Pedroia to get long look in spring Affectez un tag à cette news
The Red Sox think Pedroia, the organization's minor-league offensive player of the year last season, could contribute to the major-league team this year. He hit .324 with eight homers and 40 RBI at Double-A Portland then .255 with five homers and 24 RBI with Triple-A Pawtucket. Alex Gonzalez will be the starting shortstop, but Pedroia come position himself for an early call-up if he does well this spring. "We could be missing two shortstops (Gonzalez and Alex Cora), so that means we'll now get the chance to see a kid like (Dustin) Pedroia play more, and guys like (Brandon) Moss and David Murphy play the outfield and get extra at-bats," manager Terry Francona told the Boston Herald. "In the end, you hope it will help them in the long run."MLB Player News: CBSSports.com, Sun, 12 Feb 2006 19:58:27 +0100
