Heat guard Dwyane Wade had surgery Tuesday on his left shoulder and left knee, and the MVP of last season's NBA finals might need the remainder of the offseason to fully recover. Wade averaged 27.4 points this past season for the Heat, missing 31 games with a variety of injuries - primarily a dislocated left shoulder suffered in February. He underwent arthroscopic surgery at Kerlan Jobe Surgery Center in Los Angeles for a torn labrum in his left shoulder, the team said. He will wear a sling for 10 days before starting rehabilitation. Odom averaged 15.9 points, 9.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists in 56 games this season. He hurt his shoulder March 2 against Sacramento before returning to play the final 23 games, including the playoffs, with the injury. Golden State guard Baron Davis was cleared to play in Game 5 of the Western Conference semifinals on Tuesday despite his flagrant foul on Utah's Derek Fisher in Game 4. The play from late in Utah's 115-101 victory on Sunday happened away from the ball and was not seen by officials. On Tuesday the NBA reviewed it and gave Davis a flagrant foul, but did not suspend him. With 1:37 left in the game and the Jazz on their way to taking a 3-1 series lead, Davis and Fisher were running up the court when Davis stopped and Fisher didn't. Fisher ran into Davis' elbow and immediately dropped to the floor holding his head. There was no foul called on the play. The Dallas Mavericks forward ended the two-year MVP reign of good friend Steve Nash on Tuesday after a regular season in which the 7-footer led his team to 67 wins, the sixth most in league history. "It's still a little hard for me to be happy because of the way this season ended," Nowitzki said. "But this is an award for the regular season. That's how I've got to look at it and be proud." Nowitzki received 1,138 points, including 83 of the 129 first-place votes. Results of the MVP vote were reported last week by The Associated Press and other media outlets. Milwaukee Bucks forward Ruben Patterson was accused Tuesday of failing to register as a convicted sex offender after he moved into a new home in the suburbs. A warrant was issued after authorities filed the complaint in Hamilton County Municipal Court. Failing to register is a misdemeanor. Patterson, an eight-year pro, averaged 14.7 points and 5.4 rebounds for the Bucks this season. He played at the University of Cincinnati and moved into a home in suburban Indian Hill last year, the court complaint said. In 2001, when Patterson played for the Portland Trail Blazers, he pleaded guilty in Washington state to an attempted rape charge and was required to register as a sex offender.
